BGF supports 2 Winning Teams under the Social Innovation Program Scheme

24 February 2021

Balkan Green Foundation, within the framework of the regional project RISE, supported 2 winning teams for the implementation of their social entrepreneurship ideas.

After months of preparation, challenging work, mentoring, and training sessions on social businesses as well as a one-on-one training session, yesterday, February 23, the teams presented their ideas in front of an independent jury which comprised of government officials, representatives of banks, innovation centers, and regional organizations, to provide inputs and contribute to the selection of the winning teams.

Out of the 6 teams that were part of the RISE journey, the two winning teams were: Mia Handmade Bags, whose central aim is to transform waste of furniture fabrics into attractive and unique products, and Kompostopia which aims to promote composting practices and contribute to reducing waste.

These efforts support the long-standing work of Balkan Green Foundation in empowering young green entrepreneurs in realizing their green business ideas through the social innovation's program,  which is framed for the purpose of fostering new spaces for reconciliation for the youth through social entrepreneurship, providing a framework and enriching capacities for businesses to find their own success in creating a positive impact in the Western Balkans.
