Vienna – Rinora Gojani, the Balkan Green Foundation’s Programmes and Operations Manager, spoke at Energy Community Summer School 5th edition, joining the panel ‘Aspects of the Just Transition’.

The Energy Community Summer School is dedicated to the energy sector in transition, focusing particularly in South-Eastern and Eastern Europe. For its 5th edition, the Summer School that took place at the Vienna University gathered a group of forty postgraduate students and young professionals from the region.

In her speech, Ms. Gojani shared examples of her advocacy work; spoke about the importance of engaging the younger generation in energy transition decision-making; and the dangers of supporting fossil fuels.

Ms. Gojani emphasized that ‘undoing or escaping carbon lock-in requires undertaking significant initiatives and investments in the near term while keeping the flexibility to adapt, improve, and replace those initiatives and investments in the long term.’

The panel was followed by an open discussion between panel members and participants.
