Conclusion of the Third Edition of KSDW

For the third year around, Balkan Green Foundation was part of the organizing team of the Kosovo Sustainable Development Week. Organized for the first time in 2018, KSDW continues to be the biggest event on sustainable development and the environment organized in Kosovo.

Each year, KSDW assembles representatives of the public and private sector, civil society, academia, donor community, sustainability initiatives, and development organizations from Kosovo and the region to discuss the current state of developments regarding the sustainable development agenda.

To wrap up the third edition of KSDW, on Monday, November 30, 2020, on Kanal10 Television, Ministry of Economy and Environment, EU Office in Kosovo, GIZ, Balkan Green Foundation, and INDEP, as main partners of the annual event KSDW 2020 (Sustainable Development Week in Kosovo) provided a recap of this important annual event.

Guests in the studio were Mrs. Vjosa Osmani, Acting President and Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo; Mr. Szunyog, EU Special Representative in Kosovo; Mr. Rohde, Ambassador of Germany in Kosovo; Mrs. Deva, Deputy Minister of Economy and Environment; Mr. Oberhuber, Director of the GIZ office in Kosovo and Northern Macedonia; Mr. Malsiu, Director of the Department of Environmental and Water Protection and Mrs. Salihu, Project Coordinator at the Balkan Green Foundation.

During the discussion, they re-emphasized the importance of KSDW that serves as a platform that enables cooperation of partners from central and local institutions, civil society, and international partners, to coordinate efforts to address key development challenges in Kosovo, such as waste management and the economy, circular, water management, promotion of renewable energy, energy efficiency measures, economy.

They also underlined the need for continuous joint commitment and efforts by all stakeholders in addressing the development challenges resulting from the current global crisis and utilizing the momentum towards a green economic recovery by bringing forwards the recommendations coming from panel discussions of the KSDW 2020 edition.

KSDW 2020 was hosted by the Government of Kosovo, respectfully the Ministry of Economics and Environment, in collaboration with the European Union Office in Kosovo/EU Special Representative, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH) on behalf of the German Government, Balkan Green Foundation (BGF), and the Institute for Development Policy (INDEP).
